is celebrating Safety Week, May 5-9, with several employee appreciation meals, daily safety discussions, and on-site visits from the Leadership Team.

“Safety is the number one Core Value for our company,” said Charles Wilson, Vice President of Risk management. “It is the expectation that throughout the year, that it is at the forefront and that we never waiver on. Safety Week gives our directors up to the CEO the opportunity to celebrate and thank our employees, tradesmen and women, and subcontractors for making our projects successful and most importantly, safe.”

Although safety is always at the forefront of Poettker’s operations, the on-site teams are observing Safety Week with daily safety discussions in addition to their weekly safety discussions held throughout the year. Daily safety discussion topics include:

  • Monday – Plan with Precision
  • Tuesday – Identifying High-Energy Hazards
  • Wednesday – Own Your Part
  • Thursday – Engage and Empower Team Members
  • Friday – Commit to Excellence

Members of the Leadership Team coordinated efforts to visit Poettker’s active projects and offices to thank the teams for their ongoing commitment to safety, as well as to demonstrate that safety excellence requires participation from all levels of the organization.

In alignment with tradition, the company celebrated the holiday by sharing meals together. The headquarters in Breese, IL hosted both a breakfast and a lunch to accommodate early and standard work schedules. The Southeast office in Charlotte, NC went out to lunch in appreciation of employees’ tireless dedication to safety.

Safety Week presents an opportunity to celebrate the daily wins that go into building a culture of safety that protects our employees, subcontractors, and anyone who steps foot on our jobsites. Together, we’re building a stronger, safer industry.
